What happens after I file a report? (What’s the process?)
The process is simple. Just fill out this confidential three step reporting form with as much information as you can recall and submit it to BSA. Our in-house investigative team will follow up with you as appropriate and begin their investigation of the target company. Based on your information and our investigation, BSA will then pursue the action that we feel is warranted.
Could you please update me on the progress of my report?
To learn the progress of your report, we ask that you please call our piracy hotline at 1-888-NO-PIRACY. A BSA team member will provide you with the latest information. Please note that the investigative process is very thorough and can take several months for significant developments.
How do you calculate the rewards?
A reward may be payable only if BSA pursues an investigation and, as a direct result of the information provided by you, receives a monetary settlement from the reported organization. The amount you may receive is based on a sliding scale as outlined in the Terms and Conditions available on the BSA website.
When will I receive my reward?
A reward will be paid only if BSA pursues an investigation and, as a direct result of the information provided by you, receives a monetary settlement from the reported organization. This process could take several months. If the reward requirements have been met, then BSA will consider you for a reward payment. For further information, please see the section entitled Terms and Conditions available on the BSA website.
If I make the report to you, will my name be kept confidential?
At no point in time will your name be revealed outside of BSA unless required by law. We take all appropriate measures to ensure your confidentiality and the confidentiality of your case at all times.
How can I confirm that you’ve received my report?
You will receive an email reply from BSA soon after submitting your report. In addition, a BSA team member will reach out to you over the next 72 hours to confirm your report has been received.
What is Software Piracy?
Software piracy, or unlicensed software is the unauthorized copying or distribution of copyrighted software. This can be done by copying, downloading, sharing, selling, or installing multiple copies onto personal or work computers. It is illegal, increases security risks and results in economic harm such as loss of jobs and tax revenue.
